Hartshorn’s A-2 Suited Cracks Two Monster Holdings in $1,100 Main Event
PHILADELPHIA — Travis Hartshorn needed the poker gods to deliver back-to-back clubs, and they did. A runner-runner flush with ace-deuce suited knocked out both pocket aces and pocket kings in a three-way all-in during Day 2 of the PokerStars Open Philadelphia $1,100 Main Event at Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia.
The hand played out on Level 18 with blinds at 5,000/10,000/10,000, with the field already in the money. Vincent Ciarrocchi opened to 25,000 from early position. Travis Hartshorn moved all-in from the small blind, Daryl Boatwright called off his stack from the big blind, and Ciarrocchi put the rest of his chips in as well.
Three hands tabled. One player held A♠ A♥, another had K♠ K♥, while Hartshorn tabled A♣ 2♣.
The J♦ Q♣ 7♥ flop was a blank for Hartshorn. The 9♣ turn at least gave him a flush draw. The 7♣ landed on the river, completing the runner-runner flush and sending the entire pot his way. Boatwright and Ciarrocchi were out.
“Jesus f***ing, are you kidding me?” Boatwright said as the river hit. “What the f***, man? Are you f***ing kidding me?”
The Main Event drew 896 entries and built a prize pool of $860,160. Day 2 is scheduled to play down to a winner, who takes home $126,705 and the trophy. As of publication, three tables remain. PokerStars Team Pro Arlie Shaban is still alive. Fellow ambassador Jen Shahade, who won the $300 Women’s Event earlier in the series, made Day 2 but was eliminated earlier in the day.
